Phase 2

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:55 pm by msklee

Sorry it’s been a while since I’ve checked in.  I’m still working out and trying to get this weight off.  So far, no pounds lost.  I think the problem is definitely my diet and I need to work out 1-2 more days per week.  Right now I’m at three days per week.  I’ve got to get to 1000-1200 calories per day and working out 5 days per week.

I’ll post some pictures tomorrow so we can get an idea of where I am a month into this process.

GET OVER IT!

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:20 pm by msklee

It’s been a minute since I’ve blogged.  I have to be honest, I’ve been feeling kind of down.  Those of you who’ve seen me lately, the smile is fake (but I love you).  Mostly, I’ve been discouraged because I just don’t think I’m working hard enough.  I’m looking in the mirror feeling like crap.  Well you know what, today I decided to GET OVER IT!

It’s a new day and I will not feel sorry for myself.  This week I will cut calories, exercise MORE and HARDER (no more counting the reps Stefini).  If you see me and I’m complaining you know what… just tell me to GET OVER IT!

Oh, some other people who need to get over it.

Dallas Cowboy fans- Your players are allowed to get laid! Leave Jessica alone and get over it.

Kobe Bryant Haters-  The man is a beast and will be in the hall of fame! Stop hatin’ and Get over it!

Jamie Lynn Hatemongers- Teen pregnancy is a reality.  This is not a homeless teen mom, she’s a freakin millionaire and she’s NOT Britney.  Let the girl go have her baby in peace and GET OVER IT!

Now… if you are reading this blog and don’t agree with what I’m saying… Need I say it again… I didn’t think so.

Peace!

The Dreaded V-Up w/Exercise Ball

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:42 pm by msklee

Okay training session #4 is in the bag. Honestly, it wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t fun…but it wasn’t that bad. We worked on arms, abs, and lower body. So as you can imagine a lot of lunges, squats, and bar work. That was all fine and dandy but the exercise of death for this week was the Dreaded V-UP w/Medicine Ball (the horror!)

Here it is in a nutshell…
Lie flat on your back (on a mat). Hold the ball between your ankles, and stretch your feet vup with balland hands away from each other.  Bring your feet and arms up in (4) counts. Grab the ball with your hands and bring hands and feet back down in (4) counts. (bring ball as close to floor without touching). Bring hands and feet back up in (4) and grab ball with feet, then bring it down in (4).

Beginner :

A- 2 sets of 8 (up 4,down 4 counts as 1).
B- Then shorten it to up 2 down 2, for 2 sets of 8.
Intermediate or Advanced Add:

C- hold the ball up in the center with feet and hands for 2 sets of 8 counts (make sure but and shoulders are off the floor, and remember to keep your head up for good form).
D- Then lower your hands and feet down (with ball between ankles) and hold with hands and ball 6 inches off floor for 2 sets of 8 counts.
E- Finish it off with pulses, as many as you think you can handle.

CHECK IT OUT

Now that my friends, is an ab workout!!!!

Peace,

Kia

The Countdown

Countdown To Milestone #1

 I’ve chosen Milestone 1.
My goal is 30 lbs down by February 21st.  I picked February 21st at random but I think the idea came from a conversation I had with a friend who is attending the Oscars. So here’s the plan:
tape

  • Lose Weight and measure that waistline
  • Celebrate with grand marnier and pineapple
  • Buy a new dress in my new smaller size
  • Sit in front of the Oscars and watch the skinny women accept their awards with my new dress on
  • Prepare for Milestone #2 April 22, 2008 I haven’t set my goal weight but hopefully that will be THE major milestone in my weight loss mission.Tomorrow is my next workout with

    No Pain, No Gain

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 2:59 pm by msklee

Pain- Pain is defined by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) as “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage”.Gain- (n) advantage; an increase; winnings

So basically I can not acquire an increase/winnings/advantage without unpleasant sensory and emotional damage.  Does this sound right to you???

So, I have now had three visits to my personal trainer.  Okay, one didn’t count as a workout but I showed up so in my book it counts.  (That was the dreaded weigh-in day).  This meeting we worked on arms/strength.

Now, for anyone who has seen me since last Thursday you are aware that I have not been able to walk properly since my last workout.  Muscle spasms, sore muscles, the whole nine yards.  I compared it to Nancy Kerrigan getting whacked in the legs by Tonya Hardings goons.  It was VERY painful.  I wanted to feel the burn; bring the heat; but I never imagined it could feel like an inferno burning in my thighs and right calf muscle.

I went to my session on Monday knowing I missed Saturday boot camp and feeling like I had something to prove to myself and my lazy muscles.  And you know what… I did it.  I actually made it through the session; did my chest press, curls, a little cardio warm up, and AB work with ‘minimal’ complaint.  I left with a sense of accomplishment and feeling really good about myself.

I’m trying to recruit more friends to work out.  If you’re interested let me know.

Chanell- You don’t have a choice. Your first session is next Thursday.

     Let’s go GIRLZ!

    Ummm…OWW!

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , at 2:53 am by msklee

I must begin by saying i LOVE my personal trainer Stefani. However, that woman can really inflict some pain.

I had my first full workout session with my personal trainer at Fit in the Spirit and boy am I feeling it.  Today we worked on lower body w/abs.

I think I gave it a great try.  Did I do everything perfectly, no. I did give it my all and I felt good about taking my first steps to being physically fit.

Note to self: stretch every day

The aftermath: When I returned home from my workout session early this morning I could not lift my leg to walk up my steps.  I feel like someone has hit me with a mack truck.  Even my toes hurt!

I have modified my eating habits.  I’m eating 4 300 calorie meals a day.  Here’s a typical daily menu (this is what I ate today).  I’m trying to get to 5 fruits and four veggie servings per day.

    Breakfast
    Bowl of Oatmeal
    Piece of Fruit
    2 glasses of Water

    Morning Snack
    Boiled Egg
    Special K Bar

    Lunch
    Sandwich
    Soup
    -or-
    Salad (dressing on the side)

    Dinner
    Vegetable Stir Fry (Wok) w/Chicken
    1 cup brown rice
    Water

    Dessert
    two pieces of fruit
    (Mango/banana/grapefruit)

Well, so far so good.  Keep me in your prayers.  Next weigh in is Monday, December 10th. STaY PoStEd

    Who’s Body is This?

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , , at 2:13 am by msklee

First off, let me get you caught up to today.

Here is the Cliff notes version:

Friday- Work, eat, sleep (Note the absence of exercise) I don’t remember the excuse
Saturday- get hair done, skip boot camp, eat, shop, sleep (I think holiday shopping is a form of exercise- low impact of course; but my heart did get pumping).
Sunday- Church, eat, sleep, eat, sleep

So that brings me to today.  Today was the first day of the rest of my life! Okay, I’m being dramatic but to quote Ice Cube, “Today was a good day!” I started by visiting my new personal trainer.  I can’t lie I was really nervous about the whole experience but it turned out it was a very encouranging experience.

So what did I do you want to know. Well, the first step was to get my measurements. I’m feeling brave so I’ll share the bad news, here are my measurements. Okay, so this is my starting point.

    Chest 48.75
    Waist 40.25
ABS (I can’t even write it)
    Hips 43
    Thigh 24.5
    % Body Fat 42.2%

      I also set my goals

    Weight 140-150 lbs
    % Body Fat 19-21%
    Waist < 32 inches
    Chest <38 inches

Please check back to see my updates. I’ll be logging weekly updates of weight.  I will update measurements twice per month.  If you have a comment please share… I can take it.

P.S. I love words of encouragement.

    The Day of Reckoning

Posted in Uncategorized tagged , , , at 3:22 pm by msklee

So here I am… KiaKia Mrs. Kia Taylor-Lee.

I’m 33 years old full of life, lovin’ life and I’m a Phat Girl.  Now I say ‘Phat’ because I’m so afraid of the dreaded “f” word.  I know, I know… you are who you are blah, blah, blah.  I don’t want to be over 200 lbs anymore. I’m sick of having two closets, the I’m heavy clothes and the i’ve dieted clothes.  I don’t want to worry about whether I’ll fit on the amusement park ride (and not suffocate my son).  I like shopping, I want to shop for clothes and not 100 pairs of shoes.  So comes…

     THE DAY OF RECKONING

So i’m watching the biggest loser a few weeks ago… and they’re crying and going on and on about what the experience meant to them and how the trainers pushed them and made them love to eat right and exercise and I’m like “EUREKA” that’s it… I need a personal trainer.  All of my favorite dieters had great trainers… Oprah had Bob G, the biggest losers have Bob and Jillian… heck I need a Harvey/Dr. Ian in my life.

So it begins, I am really going to do it. I am going to get a personal trainer, exercise and loose this damn weight. Now there is some prep work that goes into it.

     Checklist for Weight Loss

    1) Get hair braided- the weave can not withstand the workout.  So I’m going to get some twists.

This is what they look like, what do you think? my-hair-style.jpg

    2) Buy new workout gear- nothing gets you motivated like some new Nike gear.

    3) Dust of Tae-Bo DVD…. Hey if Billy B can’t get you moving, no one can.  I need to get warmed up before I have the drill sargeant standing over me.

    4) Get buy-in from family… Hey call me selfish but I’m not going to starve myself while they sit around eating potato chips and drinking 2 liters of Coke.  This is going to be a family affair.  I think Deuce will enjoy Tae-Bo with me, I’ll just tell him it’s Karate practice.  : )

    5) STOP SMOKING- Okay so I stopped smoking.  I’ve done it many ways in the past (hypnosis, pregnancy, long hospitlizations).  I’m putting myself on a homemade cessation program.  Wish me luck… no don’t wish me luck… kick me in the ass if you see me with a cigarette.

and last but certainly not least… I will begin fasting and praying!

Well wish me luck… I’m calling Stefini (the trainer) now.  I hope she can help.

P.S.  My goal is to lose 35 lbs by February 28, 2008.

My current weight is 213 lbs
    My BMI is 35
    Goal Weight = 140 lbs

    ** 75 lbs** here I come!!!!!!!!!!!11
